We are still able to service and repair these machines, although now getting very old, these were the mainstay projectors for pubs and clubs in the late Eighties and early Nineties.

Advantages with these machines

Fit and forget - almost zero maintenance, zero running costs.
Built in tuner and 10w per channel stereo amplifier means they are fully self contained entertainment system, just requiring an aerial or feed from SKY Box etc.
CRT technology - very good picture quality when correctly set up.
CRT technology - no expensive bulbs to replace.
CRT technology - can be turned on first thing in the morning and switched off at midnight every day for years ideal for Showing Sports, BBC news 24 or Music TV etc all day they just keep on going !
Smoke proof.

If you have one of these machines chances are it just needs a good clean out and set up, we find that 90% of these are perfectly serviceable units, When our customers do upgrade to a newer machine we usually recommended just moving the SVT 150 to an alternative position in the venue and run two projectors, using the old SVT 150 machine as an on all the time general purpose work horse, keeping the new unit for the special sports events saving on bulb costs.

The SVP 350 was the replacement to the SVT 150 featuring more modern styling and a brighter picture, they became the mainstay projectors for pubs and clubs from the mid nineties till about 2003 when the cost of LCD and DLP projectors came down offering brighter pictures and production ceased, however there are thousands of SVP 350s still going strong, as in the case of the SVP 150 if you have one of these machines chances are it just needs a good clean out and set up, we find that 90% of these are perfectly serviceable units, When our customers do upgrade to a newer machine we usually recommended just moving the SVP 350 to an alternative position in the venue and run the two projectors, using the old SVP 350 machine as an on all the time general purpose work horse, keeping the new unit for the special sports events saving on bulb costs.

SUMMARY

If you have one these machines on the ceiling in your venue, chances are that is paid for and is costing you nothing, If however the picture is less than perfect the convergence needs to be re-set up, we can carry out this procedure in a couple of hours.

What we generally find is once you have got a big screen projector installed, customers like to watch the Football, Golf, Rugby etc all the time, this in turn eats in to the bulb life of an LCD/DLP projector which at £280.00 per time starts to build up the running costs, by the time you have paid your £500.00 per month Sky TV subscription and buy a new bulb every 2 months you have to sell a lot of beer to justify having the system in the first place.

So having one of these Seleco machines is not such a crazy old fashioned Idea after all, Sometimes we get a service call an hour before the big England match with a cry of 'my bulb has just gone ' and you can almost here those old CRT machines laughing!

So our advice would be if your happy with the picture from your Seleco keep it.
